Remembering Issac Scarth on D Day
The below is a photo of Issac Scarth in WW2 Uniform, standing beside his father in the Bulgaria Allotments that used to run to the rear of Stockton Road, Haughton-le-Skerne.
Issac enlisted into the Green Howards at Richmond and trained to become a parachutist in 1943. Later as one of the 6th Airborne Division, took part in the D Day invasion. Issac parachuted down at Pegasus Bridge, Normandy and along with his comrades set the scene for the main invasion forces to follow. Issac went on to serve in Singapore, thankfully returning home safe and well to his family.
