Memorial Garden

Our Memorial Garden forms the entrance to the Village from the Town along Haughton Road.  For years the derelict site of St Andrews School closed in 1988 had become an eyesore and wasteland.

After the failure of various initiatives to make something of it, Haughton Residents Association successfully applied to the Lottery Fund and received £50,000 to turn it into a Memorial Garden for the rememberance of loved ones and a place for people to visit and enjoy.  Other smaller funds were received from various sources including the Banks Foundation.  Village events are regularly held in the Garden and plaques can be commissioned in rememberance of the departed .
